South Africa's constitutional court has ruled that the country's "one man, one woman" definition of marriage is unconstitutional:

        If only the U.S. were as up-to-date as South Africa and Canada! It would be nice if the U.S. made marriage a civil institution like many other countries, where you first get a civil marriage from the government, and then, if you wish, you can get a religious marriage. Having clergy confer the legal contract of marriage, and acting as an agent of the government, definitely is unconsitutional.
