Why Can't Religious Leaders Sign Domestic Partner Forms

In California, a religious leader cannot sign a domestic partnership form. You have to get it notorized. It is a second class way to enter into something that supposedly gives you all the California state's rights of marriage (i.e. community property) but you have to get it notorized. A religious leader cannot sign it. It is insulting. I have raised my concern with a Los Angeles leader and she is going to bring the issue up at a multi-faith meeting in September. Hopefully someone can end this discriminatory policy.
